For best results, it is recommended that you use one of two synthetic oils created specifically for Subaru vehicles. There are two types of Genuine Subaru Oil available — Subaru 5W-30 and 0W-20. For Subaru vehicles without a turbocharger, the 0W-20 synthetic oil is the preferred oil to use. If you’re driving a Subaru vehicle with a turbocharged engine, you’ll instead want to use the 5W-30 motor oil because it’s designed for use at hotter temperatures. The 5W-30 synthetic oil is required for 2011 model year vehicles and newer models, and is recommended for older turbocharged vehicles as well.
